Established in 2009, the Hornsby Art Prize is organised and sponsored by Hornsby Shire Council and delivered in partnership with the Hornsby Art Society. This year, the art prize has an overall prize pool value of $23,000, with the major prize $10,000. Categories include Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Digital Art Stills/Digital Photography and Sculpture. The non-acquisitive prize celebrates Australian Contemporary Art and is open to all Australian residents aged 18 years and over. It also celebrates Hornsby Shire residents with the Hornsby Shire Local Artist Award with a prize of $5,000. The Hornsby Art Prize Finalists’ Exhibition will be held at Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre, Hornsby, 25 October – 10 November 2024, Tuesday – Sunday, 10am-4pm. Free entry.

Size limit: The maximum size for 2D artworks is limited to 120cm in any one direction (painting, drawing, printmaking, and digital art stills/digital photography). The maximum size of 3D artworks is limited to 85cm in any one direction (sculpture).

Grafton Regional Gallery is pleased to announce that entries are open for the 2024 Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award (JADA), artists from across Australia aged over 18 are invited to submit entries until midnight 30 June 2024.
The JADA is Australia’s richest regional drawing award. This award seeks to encourage and promote innovation and excellence in drawing, and plays a vital role in fostering Australian drawing practice. The JADA provides an opportunity for artists to further their arts career.
Over the years the JADA has documented the development of contemporary drawing practice in Australia, and has captured how drawing has changed and evolved.
At the official opening of the exhibition to be held on 27 September 2024, two prizes will be awarded. The acquisitive prize of $35,000 proudly sponsored by the Friends of Grafton Gallery (FoGG), and a non acquisitive prize of $5,000 for an Early Career Artist.
The exhibition of works by selected finalist’s will be on show at Grafton Regional Gallery from 28 September – 24 November 2024.
JADA Drawing Definition – A drawing is primarily driven by mark-making using various mediums. Submissions that include both traditional and/or contemporary approaches to achieve this are eligible for entry.

The art prize is open to Australian residents working within any 2D medium and new media
The national acquisitive Sunshine Coast National Art Prize is a dynamic visual arts award reflecting outstanding contemporary 2D and new media arts practice in Australia. Now in its eighteenth year, the exhibition presents the remarkable finalist works by artists from across the country.
The artwork awarded with the Major Prize will be acquired into the Sunshine Coast Art Collection. A People’s Choice prize is also decided by way of public vote by exhibition visitors.


The Hadley’s Art Prize is for two-dimensional Australian landscape art.

To participate, you need to be over 18 and must be an Australian citizen or permanent Australian resident.
Entries close on Friday 15 March 5pm AEST.
The work must have been undertaken and completed within two (2) years immediately preceding the entry close date.
Must not be larger than 160cm x 160cm. A stretched canvas is considered framed.
There is an entry fee of $50 per submission. Each artwork entered requires a new form.

Remagine Art Prize has a focus on waste, sustainability and the environment. Artists are asked to submit works that relate to an element of this year’s theme ‘Crossroads of Consumerism’, referring to the juncture where our consumption has met the finite natural resouces limit of our planet.
Total prizemoney $11,000. Open to digital stills, sculpture, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, ceramics and drawing.
Judges this year are Susan O’Doherty, Ulric Steiner and Sheona White.
The Remagine Art Prize exhibition will be held from 10 May until 26 May 2024, at Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre, 25 Edgeworth David Avenue, Hornsby.
Held in partnership with Hornsby Art Society since 2009, Remagine Art Prize is dedicated to bringing awareness of environmental challenges such as waste, consumption and sustainability.

The Alice Prize is an acquisitive national contemporary art prize, welcoming entries from around Australia, in any medium or theme.
Significant among regional art prizes, The Alice Prize contributes to one of the largest regional collections of Australian art, with works by leading artists from across its over 50 year history.
Coordinated by the Alice Springs Art Foundation, The Alice Prize is judged by an expert selection panel and judge of national standing, with national exposure for exhibiting artists and the opportunity to show in Mparntwe/Alice Springs, the cultural heart of Australia.
Celebrating 50 years
The Alice Prize and the Alice Springs Art Foundation were set up in 1970 to bring contemporary art from across Australia to Alice Springs for the benefit of its isolated, arts-hungry residents. The first exhibition was held on 3 October 1970.

Entries for the 2024 Burwood Art Prize are now open!
The Burwood Art Prize invites artists across Sydney to engage, consider and reflect upon one or more of the following themes: Visibility, Ritual, Legacy. Each theme can be examined and negotiated in a literal, abstract, formal and informal sense.
Artists are encouraged to see these themes as lenses through which their art can be perceived by different people in different ways. A portal and invitation for our audiences to explore broader ideas around identity, community, culture and personal experience. Artists are also invited to consider how each of these themes may connect or disconnect with their personal practice, experience, surroundings or environment.
Open to all Sydney based artists, the Burwood Art Prize featues a prize pool of $14,000 and accepts the following mediums of artwork:
