Mukesh Sharma (b. 1974, India) is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist
based in New Delhi. He holds an MFA in Printmaking from the Maharaja
Sayajirao University of Baroda. Working across printmaking, painting and large-

and contemporary culture, the impact of technology on human relationships,
and the changing relationship between humanity and nature. Discarded
computer keys are a recurring material in his work, through which he
investigates memory, technological excess, consumption and the complexities
of contemporary life.
His selected solo exhibitions include Decoding Digital DNA, Bikaner House, New
Delhi; Orthography of a Recondite Past, Quarentena Galería, Santiago, Chile;
The Keyboard of Small Things, Gallery Sumukha, Bengaluru; and Re(visions),
University of Wollongong, Australia.
Sharma has participated in more than 35 international exhibitions, art fairs,
residencies and biennales, including the Venice Architecture Biennale, India Art
Fair and Tokyo International Print Biennale. His awards and distinctions include
a National Scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development,
Government of India; the Lalit Kala Akademi Scholarship; Rajasthan Lalit Kala
State Awards; and the AIFACS Best Print Award.
His works are held in collections including the National Gallery of Australia and
the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. Salman Rushdie selected his
work for the cover of the French edition of Shalimar the Clown, published by
Gallimard, Paris.
