Christine Willcocks Workshop
WARRINGAH PRINTMAKERS STUDIO
drypoint etching from cardboard plates
With guest artist christine willcocks
saturday 26 & sunday 27 august
Drypoint etching from specially treated cardboard plates offers a cleaner, safer alternative to metal plates, while still retaining the qualities of traditional etching and more. Experience the subtleties of the cardboard without the dangers of chemicals or rosins. The process is very versatile & during the workshop it will be possible to explore the techniques of embossing, chine collé & monoprinting. Please note that this process is different to collagraph or carborundum.
Our guest lives & works in Mullumbimby, NSW & has an art practice which spans the disciplines of drawing, painting, photography & installation although printmaking is a primary focus. Christine Willcocks has received many awards & been included in many selected art award exhibitions including the Freemantle Print Award, the Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award, the National Works on Paper Award and the Waterhouse Natural History Prize. In 2014, Christine became the recipient of the Australia Council Studio Residency at the Paris Cité International. Her work is in numerous public collections & regional galleries, universities & schools as well as Artbank, the Print Council of Australia, the State Libraries of Queensland & Victoria & many private collections.
