Sandi Rigby
Biography
I attended the National Art School in Sydney, in the early 1960's. Then worked as a Graphic Designer. Later I studied Printmaking at Hornsby and Meadowbank TAFEs. My work is essentially of a nature theme, landscape, animals, birds and plants. Often from journeys abroad or long bushwalks in Australia. I try to capture the mood of the subject with colour texture, pattern and detail, layering plates, working both realistically and conceptually. I have attended 3 Art Residencies overseas, in Paris, Venice and recently Iceland, producing bodies of work and having solo exhibitions of those themes. Etching is a passion with me, I find it wonderfully rewarding, satisfying, technical, exasperating and totally addictive.
