Marta Romer

I was born in Budapest, grew up in Montréal, and studied at the École des Beaux Arts in Geneva, before eventually finding my way to Australia, where I completed an MFA in fine art printmaking and lectured for many years at the University of NSW and at the University of Technology, Sydney. Although I started as a printmaker in the discipline of etching I soon embraced alternative and hybrid practices, incorporating hand-drawn, photographic and typographic elements, and the use of photopolymer or ‘solar’ plates for both intaglio and relief printing. I enjoy working across traditional and digital processes, each medium carrying its own creative possibilities. I’ve exhibited widely, with work represented in public and private collections in Australia, Europe and North America.
