Biography

Joanne has a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Aberystwyth University, Wales and continued her arts education in London and Sydney. She worked for the Design Council in London for many years and the Key Centre of Design Quality at Sydney University. She has been ‘artist in residence’ and volunteer art teacher at a number of Sydney schools and has held print making workshops for children at the Workshop Arts Centre in Willoughby.

Joanne’s techniques include etching, collagraph, relief, silkscreen and monotype; she also loves to use papier maché. Her influences reflect the family background of gardeners, artists, musicians and writers; her style travels between the abstract and the graphic and is influenced by nature, music and literature and frequently returns to her memory of treasures that filled her great aunt’s Manor house “St George’s” in England.

Joanne has taken part in group and solo exhibitions in Australia and overseas, her work is in local and overseas private collections and has been shown in a number of publications. She is also a member of the Print Circle.
