Biography

Esther Neate is a Sydney based artist working in print media at intersections with drawing, ceramics, and digital media. Her work is primarily concerned with the trace; with the indexical studio-based marks of material practice, and an obsession with found charcoal. Through these she explores patterns of transformation and representations of the passage of time. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking at the National Art School, where she also teaches. Esther has exhibited nationally and internationally and been awarded finalist in The Lethbridge Landscape Prize, The Paddington Art Prize, The Chippendale New World Art Prize, and The Neo Print Prize.
